Lorne & Jack in the cabin

These things always take longer than one thinks they will.

However, the cabin is finally finished: floors laid, most of the furniture built, stairs to the loft in, plumbing finished.

It feels...good to be done.

It feels even better to be sharing it with Jack.

"It's really beautiful." He turns to Lorne and kisses him softly, and lies down at his side again.

Lorne turns onto his side and touches Jack's face gently. "We're gonna be okay, babe," he murmurs.

Jack nods and kisses him. "I know."

"Good," Lorne whispers, kissing him back. "And it's almost Thanksgiving. And we've got a lot to be thankful for."

"Mm," Jack hums. "Do you want to do a feast?"

"We should do something," Lorne says, trailing his fingertips down Jack's side. "It'll be our first Thanksgiving together."

"A small, two-person feast," Jack murmurs. "We'll have to get everything from the bar, of course."

Lorne nods. "We can do that. What should we have?"

"Oh, the usual," Jack says. "Turkey with sage stuffing. Mashed potatoes. Mince pie."

Lorne wrinkles his nose. "Pumpkin pie, maybe? And green bean casserole."

"You don't like mince? Pumpkin's all right."

"It's really rich," Lorne says. "Pumpkin with whipped cream. Ooh, and cranberry sauce!"

"Yes, cranberry sauce," Jack murmurs, kissing his shoulder. "What's in green bean casserole? Aside from the obvious."

Lorne smiles and slides his fingers through Jack's hair. "It's just green beans and cream of mushroom soup and French fried onions."

"Sounds promising. So if we're having that green bean thing, do you want sweet potato casserole or something else? They're good baked with brown sugar."

"Either way is fine," Lorne says. "Though I do like the marshmallows."

"Marshmallows?" Jack says, wrinkling his nose. "We'd just put pecans on top."

"No marshmallows?" Lorne asks, appalled. "Well...I guess pecans would be okay."

"No marshmallows," Jack says, "unless you have your heart set on it. But sweet potato casserole with pecans is very, very tasty."

"Hey, if you're willing to give up mince pie for me, the least I can do is give up marshmallows for you."

"Aw, sweetheart," Jack says and kisses him. "So good to me."

"Yeah, well," Lorne mumbles, kissing him back. "I kinda love you."

Jack chuckles. "Good, 'cause I kinda love you too."

"Good," Lorne says softly and kisses him again, more slowly.

Jack kisses him, and then chuckles deeply. "I'm having very naughty thoughts about you and whipped cream . . ."
