Cooking dinner for Jack

It's a lovely evening, and Lorne is tempted to stop by the lake for a quick dip on the way, but he's carrying raw meat with him, which makes it seem like a bad idea. The walk itself is nearly as nice anyway, and Lorne smiles as the cabin comes into view.

It feels like coming home on leave, which he supposes it sort of is, except that he didn't have to apply for it, and it won't come out of his bank.

"You know what we should get, babe? A grill," he says as they come up the stairs to the porch.

Jack chuckles and keeps an arm around him.

Lorne kisses his shoulder, settling in comfortably.

Jack smiles and closes his eyes. He sings softly, "'Summertime, and the livin' is easy . . . fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high . . .'"

Lorne smiles and traces lazy patterns over Jack's chest as he sings.

"'Your daddy's rich,'" Jack sings, still softly, "'and your ma is good-lookin'. . . so hush little baby, now don't you cry.'"

Lorne nuzzles into Jack's neck, humming along.

"I don't remember any more of the words," Jack murmurs and kisses Lorne's hair. "But as a lullaby, it's not bad."

Lorne nods. "It's a good lullaby," he murmurs.

Jack traces over Lorne's eyebrows with a fingertip.

Lorne smiles and wrinkles his nose and trails his fingers over Jack's arm.

"Sure are good-lookin', baby," Jack murmurs.

Lorne chuckles. "So are you, babe," he whispers and leans up to kiss Jack softly.

Jack holds Lorne's face and kisses him.

Lorne kisses him slowly, fingertips tracing along Jack's cheekbones and down his jaw.

"Pretty good kisser, too," Jack murmurs.

"Had a good teacher," Lorne whispers, brushing his lips over Jack's softly.

"I did not teach you to kiss," Jack says, "and I'm about to get jealous of whoever did."

"You taught me how to kiss you," Lorne says. "And the person who taught me to kiss is far, far in my past."

"Well, that's all right, then," Jack murmurs and kisses him.
