Jack's room, after the funeral

Lorne practically pushes Jack into the room once the door is open, he pulls Jack tight against him, kissing him deep.

Jack's neck arches and he groans, his hands spasming as his body shakes. "Evan," he cries out, "Oh, God, Evan!"

Lorne moans and slides his hand down Jack's thigh, mumbling, "Jack...Jack...Jack...Jack," as he rubs against Jack, body stiffening as he comes.

Panting in his arms, Jack watches his face and runs a thumb over Lorne's lips.

Lorne flicks his tongue over Jack's thumb, slumping down on top of him and laying his head on Jack's shoulder.

Jack cradles Lorne's face and holds him tight. "Beautiful," he whispers and kisses his forehead.

Lorne smiles and kisses Jack's neck. "Love you, darlin'."

"Love you too." He kisses his forehead again, practically humming in contentment.

Lorne nuzzles him for a moment, then his brow furrows a bit. "Jack?" he whispers.

"Hmm?" He strokes Lorne's cheek, looking at him through half-closed eyes.

"What happens if I die?" he asks, very quietly.

Jack's eyes pop open and he stares at the ceiling.

"I don't know."

He's quiet a moment.

"There's a white light, and then a road through a forest. And the road leads here."

Lorne shakes his head. "That's not what I meant."

He thinks for a while, not quite sure how to put it. "What if I die, and I don't end up here? Not everyone does."

He props himself up on an elbow to look at Jack. "If I die...you'll never know. I'll just...stop coming."

Jack frowns. "Then I'll . . . I'll miss you.

"What do you want me to say, Evan? I don't know what happens. I don't know how it works. No one does."

"I know that," Lorne says, closing his eyes and sighing deeply.

"I don't want to know what happens to me. I want to know what happens to you. How long would you wait for me? When would you decide I wasn't coming back?"

He lays back down at Jack's side, curling up and laying his head on Jack's chest. "I don't want you to be alone."

Jack holds him tight and kisses his hair. "I don't know. Maybe I wouldn't. Maybe I'd wait for you until the day I left this place."

Lorne nods. "Okay," he says quietly, kissing Jack's chest.

Jack strokes Lorne's face. "I love you. I haven't been in love very often in my life. Or death," he adds with a faint smile. "But I love you very much and I want you for as long as I can have you."

Lorne smiles faintly and leans up to kiss him. "I love you too. Very much. And...I'd hate it if I was gone for an unusually long time and came back to find you with someone else, but..." He pauses, brushing Jack's hair from his forehead. "I don't like to think of you being lonely."

"Don't think that way," Jack whispers, kissing him. "I'll wait for you."

Lorne kisses him back and leans his forehead against Jack's. "If that's what you want."

"I want," Jack says, pulling Lorne closer against him, "you to be happy and healthy and with me as much as possible. Beyond that . . . who knows what the future will bring, Evan."

"Okay," Lorne says again. He cuddles close to Jack, kissing his collarbone. "You're right."

Jack kisses his hair. "Try to sleep a little. You've had a long day."

"Yeah," Lorne murmurs, settling in at Jack's side.

"Thank you, darlin'."

"Anytime, sweetheart." He kisses Lorne's forehead and combs his fingers through Lorne's hair to soothe him into sleep.
