Lorne grins and pushes forward on the throttle. "This is the one that makes people hate living near an Air Force Base," he says as their speed climbs higher and higher until there's a loud BOOM, and the cockpit gets slightly quieter.

Jack yelps into the radio.

The sonic barrier wasn't broken until decades after he died--he's never heard a sound like this before.

Of course, after the yelp he starts laughing, because, as the kids say, it's awesome.

Lorne laughs as well, taking them into a barrel-roll with a loud, "WHOOP!"

More laughing from Jack. "This is better than Coney Island!"

Lorne laughs harder. "This is better than a lot of things," he says, stabilizing the jet before pulling it up and climbing almost straight up.

"Maybe one or two things," Jack murmurs.

"Not everything," Lorne concedes. He flips the plane over in a loop and levels them out again.

"You want to try your hand at it?"

"Absolutely," Jack says and takes hold of the throttle.

[ooc: Hometime.]

"Have at it," Lorne says, pulling his hands away from the throttle.

[ooc: Kay. I'll be heading for class for another 2-3 hours at about 4:15 my time.]

Jack holds the plane steady for a few mintues, and then grins and brings them to a higher altitude.

"Christ, the power," he murmurs.

[ooc: My connection's being wonky. May be slow.]

Lorne grins. "Amazing, isn't it?" He wishes he could see Jack's face right now.

[ooc: No worries. *hugs*]

Lorne would see the Biggest Smile Ever.

"Incredible," Jack says. "I'm going to do a roll--"

He takes them into it, whooping with delight.

Lorne laughs loudly, torn between keeping an eye on the instrument panel and wanting to let go and just enjoy it.

Jack levels them out again, making a satisfied sound like he just had a really great meal or really good sex.

"Take the throttle again? I don't dare do any more."

"All right," Lorne says, gripping the throttle again.

"Anything else you want to do while we're up here?"

"Whatever you want, Major," Jack says, still grinning hugely. "I'm entirely in your hands."

"Well," Lorne says, smiling, "we could head back now, or we could push her limits for speed, or we could do some weapons testing..."

"Speed!" Jack exclaims. "I want to see how fast she can go, Evan!"

Lorne laughs again and bears down on the throttle, watching carefully as the speed climbs.

Jack leans forward again, nerves buzzing with excitement.

They push through the sound barrier again, complete with accompanying BOOM, and Lorne keeps accelerating.

Jack makes another whoop. He loves this.

Lorne grins and whoops along with him as the jet pushes up to Mach 2 and just over.

Tomcats top out at 2.2, though, so Lorne holds it steady just at 2.1 for a little longer.

"God, I could do this forever!" Jack yells.

"We'll run out of fuel eventually!" Lorne yells back, grinning and laughing a little and keeping up the speed for another minute or so then gently easing back on the throttle.
