There are noises coming from Lorne’s closet that shouldn’t be coming from any closet. Clinking glasses and laughter and talking and…is that music?

And then Lorne steps out of the closet (pardon the pun) ahead of Jack.

“It’s not much,” he says, glancing around the sparsely furnished room, “but it’s home.”

Lorne kisses him slowly. "The world's always about to end. People just don't always realize it like they did then."

"Oh, don't say that," Jack says softly and leans into Lorne.

"Sorry," Lorne whispers, tightening his arms around Jack's waist. "I'm not very good at painting rosy pictures."

He shakes his head and kisses Lorne's neck. "I'm sorry. I got sidetracked." He looks up and smiles. "Let's fly, Evan."

Lorne smiles and kisses him. "Yes, let's." He pulls away from Jack and slides back into the pilot's seat. "The moon, wasn't it?"

"The moon, please," Jack says and gets into one of the passenger seats.

Lorne pulls them out of their orbit and heads off towards the moon. It's on the other side of the planet, but Lorne's in no hurry, so he doesn't push the jumper, just takes it slow and easy.

Jack watches avidly and reaches over to take Lorne's hand.

Lorne smiles over at him and weaves their fingers together. The moon is just beginning to come into view around the planet.

Jack squeezes Lorne's fingers as the moon comes into view, and he murmurs, "Look at that . . ."

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Lorne whispers. He never gets tired of this.

"It's incredible," Jack says.

"It's more beautiful every time I see it." He flies in close, circling the moon.

"It's--it's a moon for another planet--" He shakes his head in wonder.

Lorne grins. "People always say, no matter how far from home you are, you're still under the same moon." He doesn't say it like it's a bad thing.

"Yeah," Jack says, "but we're not, are we."

"Nope," Lorne says. Shaking his head and still grinning.

Jack watches through the window. "I'm dead, Evan," he says quietly. "I'm sure my parents are long gone, too. Everybody I knew and loved is gone.

"We'll never be under the same sky again."

Lorne's grin fades and he brings the jumper down onto the moon's surface. Turning his chair towards Jack and holding out a hand to him, he says softly, "C'mere."

Jack moves across the aisle to sit on Lorne's knee. "Sorry. I'm sorry."

Lorne slides an arm around Jack's waist and trails his fingers down Jack's face. "Don't apologize. I forget sometimes, y'know. I forget that you're dead." He cups Jack's face in his hand. "Your skin is warm, and I can hear you breathing and feel your heart beating. It's easy to forget, and I'm sorry."

Jack attempts a smile and puts his hands on top of Lorne's. "I never stop thinking about it. It's always at the back of my mind, particularly when I wonder why you want me."

Lorne pulls Jack's head down and rests their foreheads together and whispers, "I want you because you're beautiful. You're amazing. When you touch me...I feel like my whole body is on fire. I've never let myself really fall for another guy before, but with you...I couldn't help myself."

Jack kisses him, sighing into it, his arms going around Lorne's neck. "Thank you."

Lorne kisses him back gently, wrapping both arms around Jack's waist. "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it, babe."
