Lorne's eyebrow raises and his voice breaks a little when he says, "Yeah." He clears his throat. "Yeah, the...uh...really big one."

He licks a little mustard from his fingertip. "Have you ever ridden it?"

Lorne leans back on an elbow to watch Jack eating, which suddenly seems more interesting than eating himself. "A few times, yeah. I had my own ship once too."

"Was it a spaceship?" he says eagerly, and then remembers he's trying to be seductive. He leans back too and stretches out his legs.

"Yup," Lorne says, picking up a slice of apple and popping into his mouth. "Bigger than the Daedelus."

"What was its name?" He tilts back his head to take another bite of banana.

"She was called the Aurora." There's a fond smile on his lips. It's hard to say if it's because of the ship or because of Jack.

"The Aurora," Jack repeats with pleasure. "I like that. My father's plane, the one I learned to fly in, he called it the Daydream."

Lorne thinks about that for a moment. "Daydream's a good name for a personal plane. Sheppard named the ship. I kind of inherited it."

"How long was it yours?" He pops the last of the banana into his mouth.

Lorne blushes and ducks his head. "About 20 hours." Suddenly, his sandwich seems a whole lot more interesting.

[ooc: D'oh. It was the Orion, not the Aurora. Wrong ship.]

"Oh," Jack says softly, and then leans over and kisses him. "I'm sorry."

"It's all right." He shrugs and smiles at Jack. "I didn't have a whole lot of time to get attached to her."

"It's still hard to lose a bird," Jack says quietly.

"Yeah," Lorne says with a quiet sigh. "Tell me about yours?"

"Oh, she was a beauty," Jack says softly. "A Hawker Hurricane, Mark II. Light and lithe and so responsive. She flew like a hawk on the wind."

Lorne smiles and leans closer, kissing Jack softly. "What was her name?"

"LF372," Jack says quietly. "We didn't name our planes personally. The bombers did, though."

"Makes sense, I guess," Lorne says trailing his fingers down Jack's face. "We don't name the jumpers either."

"I loved her even if she didn't have a name," Jack says softly. "She kept me safe for a long time."

"You miss her." It's not a question.

Jack simply nods and rests his forehead against Lorne's with a quiet sigh.

Lorne cups the back of Jack's neck in his hand and kisses him. "I'm so sorry," he whispers.

"But look at me now," Jack whispers. "I''m in outer space. Hanging above a planet in another galaxy."

"Look at you now," Lorne says. "God, you're amazing."
