There are noises coming from Lorne’s closet that shouldn’t be coming from any closet. Clinking glasses and laughter and talking and…is that music?

And then Lorne steps out of the closet (pardon the pun) ahead of Jack.

“It’s not much,” he says, glancing around the sparsely furnished room, “but it’s home.”

"I think it would be the wiser course to eat."

Beat.

"And then do other things."

He takes off his jacket and hangs it over the back of a chair.

"Mmmm...smart and beautiful," Lorne says, pulling their lunch out of the bin he'd stored it in. "Floor okay for you?"

"The floor's fine." He hunkers down and gets comfortable.

Lorne sits next to him, his shoulder pressing against Jack's, and hands him his sandwich.

"Thanks," Jack says softly and kisses his cheek.

"You're welcome," Lorne says, smiling sideways at him. He bumps his knee against Jack's and opens his sandwich package.

Jack bumps him right back. "Do you still get chocolate rations?"

"We do," Lorne says with a nod. "We also get packages from home on a semi-regular basis. My mom usually sends chocolate and coffee.

"Did you want some? I think I've got a bar or two stored in here."

"No, it's all right," Jack says with a laugh. "I was just wondering how much things have changed. We didn't get much fresh food."

"We don't get a whole lot fresh from Earth," Lorne says. "You just came at the right time. The Daedelus is docked right now, so we've got fresh supplies."

"Which one is the Daedelus?" Jack says and starts to peel his banana.


[ooc: Pause? am sleepy.]

"It's the ship that was parked on the northeaster pier when we left the city." He watches Jack and the banana with undisguised interest.

"Oh, the really big one," Jack says, and notices Lorne's interest as he takes his first bite.

He chews and swallows and takes another, slower this time, taking more of the banana into his mouth.

Lorne's eyebrow raises and his voice breaks a little when he says, "Yeah." He clears his throat. "Yeah, the...uh...really big one."

He licks a little mustard from his fingertip. "Have you ever ridden it?"

Lorne leans back on an elbow to watch Jack eating, which suddenly seems more interesting than eating himself. "A few times, yeah. I had my own ship once too."

"Was it a spaceship?" he says eagerly, and then remembers he's trying to be seductive. He leans back too and stretches out his legs.

"Yup," Lorne says, picking up a slice of apple and popping into his mouth. "Bigger than the Daedelus."

"What was its name?" He tilts back his head to take another bite of banana.

"She was called the Aurora." There's a fond smile on his lips. It's hard to say if it's because of the ship or because of Jack.

"The Aurora," Jack repeats with pleasure. "I like that. My father's plane, the one I learned to fly in, he called it the Daydream."

Lorne thinks about that for a moment. "Daydream's a good name for a personal plane. Sheppard named the ship. I kind of inherited it."

"How long was it yours?" He pops the last of the banana into his mouth.

Lorne blushes and ducks his head. "About 20 hours." Suddenly, his sandwich seems a whole lot more interesting.

"Oh," Jack says softly, and then leans over and kisses him. "I'm sorry."
