There are noises coming from Lorne’s closet that shouldn’t be coming from any closet. Clinking glasses and laughter and talking and…is that music?

And then Lorne steps out of the closet (pardon the pun) ahead of Jack.

“It’s not much,” he says, glancing around the sparsely furnished room, “but it’s home.”

Jack grips the armrests, inhaling as they go higher and higher.

"Don't forget to breathe," Lorne says as the jumper pushes through the atmosphere and out into space.

"oh--yeah--" He looks around, his mouth open, and his eyes bright. "Holy God," he whispers and blinks a few times. "This is really outer space."

"Yes, it is," Lorne says, watching Jack's face with amusement. "It's really outer space."

"It's beautiful," he whispers and wipes his eyes, embarrassed.

Lorne glances out the window at the stars and the planet beneath them and then smiles over at Jack. "Yeah," he says softly. "It really is."

"They talk about going into space but so many people think there's no way for a person to survive." He glances at Lorne. "I mean. In 1940."

"1969," Lorne says. "Neil Armstrong is the first man to walk on the moon. Back home, people still think you have to take a space shuttle up. No gravity. No oxygen. That orange suit I wore into the Bar that one time? That's what you have to wear to survive in space."

"1969," Jack repeats in wonder. "I could have seen it."

Lorne chuckles softly. "That's the year before I was born."

Jack laughs dryly. "I could have been your grandfather."

"I'm awfully glad you're not," Lorne says with a smirk.

"Heh--yeah, that would make this a little weird, wouldn't it," Jack says dryly.

"Weirder than it already is, yeah." Lorne sets the jumper in a geosynchronous orbit and stands, holding a hand out to Jack, "C'mere."

"I don't think we're that weird," Jack says as he puts his hand in Lorne's.

Lorne pulls him to his feet and kisses him softly. "Baby, you're dead, and I'm from sixty years in your future. We're plenty weird."

"Oh," Jack says softly, his hands settling on Lorne's hips. "That. Well, yes, that is weird. But not insurmountable."

He kisses Lorne, holding him by the hips.

Lorne slides his arms around Jack's neck and kisses him back. "Not insurmountable," he whispers.

Jack pulls their hips together and kisses him harder.

It has occurred to him that this relationship can only go day-to-day, and he really doesn't want to talk about that.

The same thought has occurred to Lorne. It's the reason he never knows what to say when people ask him about Jack.

So he kisses Jack back just as hard and tangles his fingers in Jack's hair.

"Can we--" Jack blushes a little and rests his head on Lorne's shoulder. "Will the ship be okay if we're not paying attention?"

Lorne laughs softly and kisses Jack's temple. "It'll stay right here until I move it."

"Oh good," Jack breathes and nips at his neck.

Lorne's breath catches. "So we could...have lunch, and we'd be fine."

"Oh. Yes. Lunch. That would be smart, wouldn't it." He pulls himself away from Lorne reluctantly.
